From a Hospital Bed to Walk-On to Team Captain
Unlikely Story
From a young age, I dreamed of suiting up for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Football was my passion, and my goal was to earn a spot on one of the greatest college football teams in the nation. However, at 17, that dream almost ended during a routine practice. A serious accident left me with a split kidney and complications that landed me in the hospital for 12 days.
During that time, something extraordinary happened. Coach Gene Stallings, head coach of the Crimson Tide, heard about my injury and gave me a call in the hospital. I was just a high school player at the time, but Coach Stallings asked me if there was anything he could do for me. Without hesitation, I told him I wanted a chance to walk on at Alabama.
That phone call, along with God answering many prayers, reignited my determination. I got my chance to walk on, but the journey wasn’t easy. After initially being cut from the team, I faced many obstacles. But with encouragement from those around me and a refusal to give up, I kept pushing. Eventually, I earned a spot and realized my dream of playing for the Crimson Tide. I was blessed enough to be voted Team Captain for the 1997 Tennessee - Alabama game.
At D1 Kicking, I bring the same determination, passion, and perseverance that defined my own football journey to help aspiring athletes achieve their dreams. Whether you're looking to improve your kicking skills or pursue a spot on your dream team, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
